“As a first time mom, I thought I knew what I wanted. I did all the things, birthing classes, red the books, advice from other moms, Reddit groups. I knew exactly what I wanted for my birth…..or so I thought. Day of labor, my birth plan went out the window and we had to pivot quickly and in a way I never expected. I was feeling defeated and every emotion. Without Jazmine and her patience, knowledge and grit things could have gone terribly wrong. We met pretty often throughout my last two trimesters so she knew what I wanted, where I was willing to be flexible and what my non-negotiables were. In the 23rd hour of labor I started making requests that Jazmine knew I would immediately regret. She listened to me, let me, loudly and passionately, express my emotions and very politely and firmly said, “I would be failing you if I let you do that, we aren’t giving up.” I couldn’t have done it without her because everything I read and thought I knew, immediately went out the window once the pain became unbearable. The support she offered my partner and I was unmatched!”
